The Dream Factory isn’t about business as usual, it’s business as unusual - productive, collaborative work spaces.
In early 2017, The Dream Factory will be the home of some of the world's most innovative and disruptive businesses, creating a unique workplace environment for design, technology and social change.
Set by the Maribyrnong River in Footscray, The Dream Factory spills over four-levels of inspiring renovated wool-shed warehouse space (formerly the home of Lonely Planet).
Featuring the most up-to-date technologies, The Dream Factory will have a 200kW rooftop solar system and house Australia’s first industrial Tesla batteries. Over time, it will become one of Australia’s most sustainable buildings.
Location: 90 Maribyrnong St. Footscray, Victoria
Cost: Min. $450 for up to 15 students, plus $30 per additional student
Max. class size: By Negotiation
Time: Approximately 2 hours between 9.00am and 3.00pm (Time slot may be negotiated)
Other: No GST is applicable to the excursion for registered schools
Understanding – Students will have a tour of The Dream Factory facilities and develop an understanding of what a collaborative working community is, and how it functions.
Inquiry – Students will explore the theme of Self-Employment as a Career Option.
Students will be able to:
- Identify the seven key skills needed to start a business.
- Understand how Foundation Skills support the key skills of successful business.
- Learn about the seven ways to ‘Fail Forward’
- Participate in a Q&A forum with some of The Dream Factory clients, to describe their Start-Up journey, ’failing forward’ and experience as entrepreneurs.
Application – Students will have the opportunity to go to Inspire9 in Richmond through their weekend workshop program for young students.
